World Environment Day

At ROVI we work every day to protect our most precious treasure, the environment. That’s why, coinciding with the celebration of World Environment Day, we would like to bring you one of the goals we are most proud of achieving year after year:

Achieving carbon neutrality

Do you want to know how this is possible? Find out why at ROVI we are GREEN

Do you know your carbon footprint?

Every time we travel by car, print a document or use a computer at work we leave behind a trail of gases that accumulate and accelerate climate change. This trail is the carbon footprint.

The carbon footprint is much more present than we think in our daily lives. That’s why we want to tell you how we work at ROVI and how you can help us.

Don’t miss the video we have prepared for you!

Rovi, awarded the Manantial Foundation’s Solidarity Seal of Approval

The Manantial Foundation has held the 11th edition of the Miradas Award, which recognises the work of organisations and individuals who help to reduce stigma, create employment or improve the care and quality of life of people with mental health problems. In this regard, it has recognised Laboratorios ROVI with its Solidarity Seal, a distinction for companies that are committed to inclusion in the workplace by incorporating people with mental health diagnoses into their workforces.

Javier Angulo, Director of Human Resources at ROVI, emphasises that “ROVI is committed to the integration of people with disabilities or stigmatised groups, such as people with mental illnesses, into the workplace. For the past four years, ROVI and Fundación Manantial have been cooperating in the search for candidates to fill jobs at our plants in Alcalá, San Sebastián de los Reyes and Julián Camarillo, and the experience has been very positive”.

The Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, José Luis Escrivá, was in charge of presenting the Solidarity Seals to the companies. In addition, the presenter, monologuist, scriptwriter, actor and streamer Ángel Martín was awarded the Miradas de Fundación Manantial Prize for his work in information and social awareness through the publication of his book and podcast Por si las voces vuelven.

ROVI has published the financial results recorded in the first quarter of 2022. Among the main indicators obtained, the following stand out:

World day for safety and health at work

Because there is nothing more important than health and safety

At ROVI, we continue to work on building a positive health and safety culture among our employees. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown the importance of having a sound occupational health and safety system in which all the employees participate. It is the only way for ROVI to remain a space where the well-being of all its workers is assured.

Our strategy to create a culture of awareness of the importance of looking after health and safety at work rests on two basic pillars:

Occupational Risk Prevention (ORP) training

ROVI works with continuing ORP training, which begins when the employee joins the company and continues throughout their professional career with ROVI. This training covers subjects so important as the use of PPE, guidelines for emergencies, ways to avoid injury and rules on accident prevention. The system forms part of an annual training plan, the goal of which is not only to reduce the company’s accident rate, but also to raise employees’ awareness of the importance of protecting health and safety at work.

Near Miss report

To help us improve, at ROVI we have put in place the Near Miss report to report potentially dangerous situations. This document has been distributed by the plants so that any employee can report situations that could lead to an accident directly to the Health and Safety Department. These situations will be studied by the Department and, where necessary, the corrections or improvements necessary to avoid any accident will be made.

This direct communication by the employees is of vital importance. Your contributions help us to strengthen our Occupational Health and Safety System. We are counting on you.

New Guidelines in relation to COVID-1

After the revision of the COVID-19 Vigilance and Control Strategy by the Spanish health authorities, we set out below the rules that all ROVI group employees must follow in relation to the prevention of COVID-19, starting Monday, 25 April, 2022:

Compulsory masks

  • Compulsory use of masks indoors in the following situations:
    • At the workstation, when it is not possible to maintain an interpersonal distance equal to or greater than 1.5 metres. If the distance is equal to or greater than 1.5 metres, it will not be necessary to use a mask
    • In all common areas and small enclosed spaces where people may concentrate, such as changing rooms, toilets, canteens and elevators.
  • It will not be compulsory to wear a mask in outdoor spaces.
  • ROVI will continue to provide one surgical mask per person per day to all workers.

Meeting rooms

The limitations on the capacity of meeting rooms will be removed, but it will be compulsory to wear a mask if the interpersonal distance between those present is not equal to or greater than 1.5 metres.

Ventilation

You are reminded that natural ventilation is compulsory for periods of 15 minutes approximately every two hours to favour the renewal of the air in the offices. For example, at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00.

60% in-person presence

We are increasing the proportion of in-person presence at our offices, recovering a percentage of 60%. This means that in-person presence is required for at least three days out of every five.

As an exception, the increase in in-person presence should take place gradually during the coming week. It will be applicable to all departments as of Monday, 2 May, 2022.

As has been the case to date, only the workstations marked with a green sign may be occupied.

Canteen

Use of the canteen will remain the same as at present.

Vulnerable groups

People aged 60 or over, those with weakened immune systems for intrinsic or extrinsic causes, and pregnant women.

People who fall within the above definition must report their situation to the Occupational Hazard Prevention Department in order to arrange an appointment with the occupational health area. If they are found to belong to a vulnerable group, the following measures will be adopted:

  • Workers whose job does not allow teleworking, either totally or partially, will be provided with an FPP2 mask, which they must use throughout the working day, with no exceptions.
  • Workers whose job allows teleworking will work under said system.

Confirmed cases

Workers who are diagnosed as having COVID-19 (through either an antigen test or a PCR) whose doctors have not authorised them to take sick leave (because their symptoms are mild) must observe the following rules:

  • If their job allows teleworking, they must coordinate with their direct superior in order to work under this system for the seven calendar days following the onset of symptoms.
  • If their job does not allow teleworking, infected workers without sick leave must come to work in person, observing the following rules:
    • They must use an FPP2 mask throughout the working day, with no exceptions. The mask will be given to them by their department head (who must ask SYMA for it when he/she becomes aware that there is a positive in her/her team).
    • They must maximise the precautions, limiting all forms of social interaction (meals, breaks, meetings, etc.) to the greatest extent possible.

We remind you that the notification box of ROVI has been disabled and that these infections must be handled in the same way as sick leave for any other reason, i.e. through Human Resources.

All these measures will be reviewed in accordance with the evolution of the instructions of the health authorities applicable to work centres and the evolution of the epidemiological situation.
